James Myrel Openshaw September 15, 1940 – June 29, 2018 James Myrel Openshaw, 77, passed away on June 29, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was born to Rhuel and Darlene Openshaw on September 15, 1940 in Santaquin, Utah. James attended and graduated from Weber High School.

He married the love of his life, Bonnie Oliver, on November 3, 1959 in Roy, Utah. James worked for the Federal Government for 38 years. He was a member of the LDS faith and enjoyed horse racing, fishing, farming, but most of all his family.

James is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his three children: James (Mandie) Openshaw, Gaye (Dave) Palmer, and Scott (Deon) Openshaw; his sister, Deborah Egan; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Doug and Tom Openshaw. Special thanks to James daughter-in-law, Mandie Openshaw for all she has done.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like everyone to donate to a charity of their choice. A public visitation will be held at the Roy 27th Ward, 3776 West 5375 South, Roy, Utah, on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 9:30 – 10:30 am. The funeral service will follow starting at 11 am.

James will be buried at the Roy City Cemetery. Services under the direction of Myers Mortuary 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah. Send condolences to the family at www.
