DuWayne Clark Wheelwright 86, well-loved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away surrounded by family on July 4, 2018 of advanced dementia brought on by heart disease. DuWayne was born September 19, 1931, the third child of Phoebe May Clark and Henry Wheelwright. DuWayne was raised in Ogden and moved with his family to Roy in his teens.

He graduated from Weber High School and attended Weber State University. He proudly enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a radar man on the U.S.S Bremerton during the Korean Conflict. After honorably finishing his tour of duty, he continued working at Hill Air Force Base and retired as a minuteman missile technician after 30 years of service.

In 1957, he met the love of his life Sherry Johnson. They were married May 10, 1958 in Roy, Utah. DuWayne and Sherry were later sealed in the Logan Temple in 1964.

They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in May. DuWayne and Sherry were blessed with 12 children: Lynn (Jeanie), Laura (Scott), Kelly (Sharon), Terry (Mindy), Rick (Amy), Susan, Julie, Janica, Marisa (Chris), Briana (Clayton), Alyssa (Jason), and Jace. They are the proud grandparents of 36 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

DuWayne was always there for others in need. Perpetually friendly, he never met a stranger. An active member of the LDS Church, he served in many positions including scout leader, a counselor in the sunday school presidency & financial clerk.

He was active in political affairs, having a great love of history and our nation. During their 57 years in their home he used his handyman skills to build a large addition that featured his intricate woodwork. He loved being outdoors, fishing and collecting unique items.

DuWayne was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruby Buttars, brothers Donald Wheelwright and Dennis Wheelwright. He leaves behind his sweetheart, Sherry, children, his two brothers, Michael Wheelwright, William & (Carol) Wheelwright, and sister-in-law Beth Wheelwright. Funeral services will be held at the Lake View Ward, 4900 South 2000 West in Roy, Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11:00 am.

A viewing will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Myers Mortuary 5865 S 1900 W in Roy from 6-8 pm and Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Lake View building at 9:30 – 10:30 am.
