Laurie Diane Prawitt Foley April 13, 1957 – July 15, 2018 Cancer took the life of our dear wife and mother after over four years of valiantly struggling with the disease. She was born in Ogden, Utah and spent the first 21 years of her life in many places all over the world as her father was stationed in various places in his military career. In 1978, she met and fell in love with Michael Ray Foley, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple a few months later.

They lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming in their early marriage and then later moved to Ogden. Throughout their marriage, Mike and Laurie had seven children together. Laurie always felt that her family was her greatest calling in life.

Raising her children brought her infinite joy and was always her first priority. Before her marriage, Laurie attended and graduated from Ricks College (BYU-Idaho) in 1976, then attended BYU in Provo for a short time. She also attended and graduated from Weber State University in 1986 with a nursing degree.

She worked part-time as an RN at McKay-Dee Hospital and then later as a home care nurse, but her priority was always her children and she preferred being home with them. During her life, Laurie served in many capacities within the organizations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints including Primary, Scouting, Young Women, Relief Society, Sunday School, and Cub Scouts. She enjoyed being the Sacrament Meeting Program Coordinator in her last few years.

She and her husband participated in family history and genealogy and did the temple work for many ancestors. Some of Laurie’s greatest joys were camping and four-wheeling with her family in the mountains. She loved hiking, wild berry-picking, and sitting around the campfire at night with her children and grandchildren.

Laurie loved music and nature. When her children grew up and moved out, she devoted her nurturing disposition to plants. She would often buy plants that were struggling just so she could nurture them back into healthy, thriving flowers.

She loved adventure, humor, and worked hard to see the positive side of every situation, even when it was difficult. Laurie was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Diana Prawitt, in 2009. She is survived by her father, George Prawitt, two brothers, Greg Prawitt and Doug Prawitt, and one sister, Carolyn Whittington.

She is also survived by her husband, Mike Foley, in North Ogden, and her children, Kindra Foley in Tooele, Chad Foley (wife April) in Eagle Mountain, Amber Foley in Ogden, Jenny Littlemore (husband Matt) in Florida, Lindsey Myers (husband Chris) in Syracuse, Landon Foley (wife Caroline) in Salt Lake City, and Isaac Foley in North Ogden. Laurie also has 15 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 8th Ward, 1150 East 2600 North, on Thursday, July 19, 2018.

Viewings will be held at the church on Wednesday, July 18th from 6 to 8 p.m. and prior to the service from 10 to 10:30 a.m. A private graveside service for family members will follow at Ben Lomond Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Myers Ogden Mortuary.
