Obituary of Grace M. Layfield: Grace M. Layfield, 93, of Millsboro, DE passed away peacefully at home on January 12, 2019. Mrs. Layfield was born on March 5, 1925 in Millsboro to the late Louder and Ethel Brasure Mitchell. She was co-owner of Mitchell & Sons, Inc. in Millsboro.

Mrs. Layfield also worked at H.B. Mitchell’s for 17 years, and also worked for Baker’s Hardware in Millsboro for many years. Throughout her life she was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church and supported numerous organizations and activities within the Millsboro Community. Gardening and flowers were a passion.

When not planting and pruning, she was creating floral arrangements. While traveling throughout the U.S. and in various parts of Europe, visits to beautiful gardens made the trips complete. Mrs. Layfield is survived by a son, Reginald M. Layfield and his wife Donna, of Millsboro; a daughter: Deborah A. Ware, and husband Les, of Hampton, VA; Three grandchildren: Mark B. Hall of Port Haywood, VA; Jennifer L. (Ware) Dyer, of Nottingham, UK; and Andrew M. Ware, of Fairfax Station, VA.

Also surviving are five great-granddaughters: D. Grace Hall; Eileen B. Hall; Lennon E. Ware; Charlie Mae Ware; and Finley E. Dyer. Grace’s husband of 65 years, Bob, preceded her in death in 2009, and a daughter, Delores D. Hall, passed away in 1984. A special thanks to Betty, Paula and Felicia for their dedicated care giving services over the last several years.

Calling hours, and a time of visitation with the family will be held from Noon till 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM at the Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, DE. Dr. James Van Der Wall will officiate. Interment will follow in Millsboro Cemetery.
