Grace Lorene Smith Blakeney, 94, of Harry Street, China Grove NC, passed away Sunday, November 11, at Big Elm Retirement Center. She was born April 17, 1924 in Rowan County to the late Sam Smith and the late Minnie Pink Setzer Smith. Grace was educated in the Rowan County School System and was a home maker.

She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she served on the Sr. Choir, Missionary Department, Church Mother and was the oldest living member. Services will be held Sunday, November 18, at Oak Grove Baptist Church 1205 S. Main Street, China Grove, NC. Visitation will be 2:00 – 3:00 PM with funeral services at 3:00.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Charlie Blakeney, Sr. a son, Floyd Edward Blakeney, her siblings, Roy Smith, Floyd Smith, Louis Smith, Karl Smith, George Smith, William Smith, Clarence smith, Berthenia Smith, and Lula Mae Smith.

Those left to cherish fond memories include a daughter, Minnie Sanders (James William) of Charlotte, NC, a son, Charlie Blakeney, Jr. (Maxine) of Mooresville, NC; nine grandchildren,; 17 great grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; special friends, Darlene Livingston, Ann Jordan, Mae Frances Harris, Marie Lowery, Jeanette Jordan, Mr. & Mrs. Price, Priscilla Ingram, Tracy Stout, Mr. & Mrs. Tommy Harris, Lucille Collier and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
