Funeral services for Grace Stockman, 96, of Norfolk will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Ave, Norfolk: Reverend Jeff Swanson will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.

Grace died Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Faith Regional Health Services. Grace (Mlady) Stockman was born November 18, 1921, in Pischelville, NE, to Charles and Minnie (Dobrichorvsky) Mlady. Grace’s siblings included Lyle Mlady, Leonard Mlady, and her twin sister, Tilley Noyer.

She graduated from Verdigre High School in 1940. Grace was employed at Henningsen’s Foods, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, and Norfolk Public Schools. After retiring from Norfolk Public Schools, Grace embarked on the journey with her son and daughter-in-law Larry and Deb Stockman in opening Stocky’s Carry-out and Catering.

She worked at Stocky’s for 21 years and retired from Stocky’s, July 13, 2013. Grace was known for making the world’s best pancakes. Grace married Lawrence Stockman on June 25, 1940 in O’Neil Nebraska.

Together they had six children; Charles Stockman of Columbus Nebraska, Bob (Faye) Stockman of Lincoln Nebraska, Mike (Dianne) Stockman, Karen Dettmann, Lori Nolan, all of Norfolk, Nebraska, and Larry (Deb) Stockman of Sioux City, IA. Grace had ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, two brothers, her twin sister, her son; Mike, son-in-law; Kenneth Dettmann, and daughter-in-law; Leona Stockman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed towards St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Care. Grace was so thankful for the care she received at St. Joseph’s. Grace always had a smile to share with everyone and shared kindness with everyone she met.
