He was born November 28, 1937 to the late Walter and Lorena Edwards. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Lynn T. Edwards and Jasper W. Edwards.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 56 years Frances (Frankie) Edwards; his son, Richard (Bubba) Edwards and his wife Holly; three daughters, Tracy Wilmouth and her husband Jason all of Roanoke Rapids, Kathy Godsey and her husband Eric of Morehead City and Judy Warner of Culpepper, VA; his sister, Doris Formal and her husband Joe of Chase City, VA; twelve grandsons, Michael May and his wife Beth, James (Todd) Davis, Jason (Jay) Wilmouth, Joshua Wilmouth, Joshua Thompson, Timothy (TJ) Edwards all of Roanoke Rapids, James Cox and his wife Melanie of IL, Nicholas Davis and his wife Linda of ID, Richard (Ricky) Krebs and hhis wife Nikki, Michael Breedin , Kevin Breedin all of VA, Michael Loeluis of NJ; three granddaughters, Nicole Mullins and her husband George of Warrenton, NC, Miranda Cox of Jacksonville, Nc and Lisa Elliot of Culpepper, VA; twenty-nine great-grandchildren and two special nieces, Brenda Evans of VA and Debra Lynch of Roanoke Rapids. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 12, 2019 in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Rex Evans and Kenneth Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday, February 11, 2019 at the funeral home and other times at the home. Online condolences may be sent to www. hockadayfs.com.
