Harlin’s Obituary HARLIN C. EDWARDS STAUNTON, VA… Harlin C. (Duck) Edwards, formerly of Fishersville, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019, in Sentara RMH Medical Center. He was born November 28, 1921, in Rockingham County, the son of the late Robert A. (Earn) Edwards and Hettie Orebaugh Edwards. Graduating from Weyers Cave High School in 1939, he became employed by Wayne Mfg/Hopeman Brothers in 1940.

Employed there for 43 years, he retired in 1983 after holding positions of Plant Superintendent and Manager of Quality Assurance. He was a member of Fishersville United Methodist Church. He was a life member of Shenandale Gun Club.

For a number of years he owned and operated Pine Hill Range, a Skeet, Trap and Rifle Range near Dooms. After retiring, much time was spent at Downtafarm which was his home place. He was an avid grouse and quail hunter and loved to train his English Setters.

Fly Fishing was a big part of his recreation and the Stellako River in British Columbia, Canada was his favorite place to fish. He was a Charter Member of the H.C. Edwards Chapter of The Ruffed Grouse Society. Preceding him in death are his parents; two sisters, Gladys E. Laymon and Deleta Edwards; one brother, Roland Edwards; and a brother-in-law, Sidney L. Laymon.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Sipe Edwards, whom he married June 1, 1947, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2019, in Fishersville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dr. Gene Williams.

Burial will be private in Augusta Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service in the church. Memorials may be made to the Augusta Regional S.P.C.A.
