RUSSELL’s Obituary Russell Clyde Eckard, Jr., 72, husband of Joyce Ann (Ryder) Eckard, of 123 Red Oaks Drive, died Saturday, February 9, 2019, at his residence. He was born September 6, 1946, in Mt. Solon, VA a son of the late Russell Clyde, Sr., and Grace (Shiplett) Eckard.

He attended Parkway Wesleyan Church. In addition to his wife, family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Donna Thompson of Staunton; a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and James Young of Verona; two sisters and brother-in-law, Joan and Boyd Talley and Nellie Robertson; and a special nephew, Nelson Clutch Shiplett of Churchville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Shiplett.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2019, in the funeral home.
