Harrison Rexroad passed into eternal rest on Feb. 25, 2019, at 86 years old. He was born on Sept.

17, 1932, to Leonard and Marion (Myser) Rexroad of Tolono. He married Mary Ellen Beckett on April 1, 1952, and raised his family in Mahomet. Rex was a U.S. Army veteran.

He owned two restaurants, Rex’s Pizza in Mahomet and Rex’s at Clifford & Jacobs, before he retired from the Champaign County Housing Authority. He spent his retirement recycling metals, mowing yards and taking care of his true love, his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings, Sarah Hemmerich and Nick Rexroad; his son, James Harrison Rexroad; and three granddaughters, Michelle Ackerman, Maggie Boles and Miriam Sawka.

Rex leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Mary; three children, Betty Jo Armstrong, Nikki Lynn (Everette) Keller and Jeremy Hugh Rexroad; one brother, Max (Elaine) Rexroad; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at First Baptist Church of Mahomet (402 S. Elm, Mahomet, IL 61853). Friends may greet the family after the service at the lunch at the church.
