Kelly, 75, of Buchanan, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at her home. She was born November 26, 1943 in Blytheville, AR to the union of the late Willie and Leoma (Davis) James. On April 25, 1963, Hattie married Floyd “Tank” Kelly at a ceremony in Niles, MI.

Hattie worked at Buchanan High School as a beloved hall monitor for 20 years. She then worked at Open Doors as a caregiver until her retirement in 2006. Hattie is survived by her daughters, Lynn Kelly, Neva (Rodney) Gadson, Valerie Kelly Brown, Sherry Jean Kelly; step-daughter, Celeri Jones; god-daughters, Tonja Wade-Farrow, Demetria Kelly; brothers, Henry (Tommie) Anderson, Joe James, Willie (Martha) Spencer, Ebenezer (Veronica) Spencer, John (Karen) James, Charlesal James; Charlie James; sisters, Lucinda Patrick, Paullean James, Ruthie Scott; grandchildren, Kisha N. Phillips, Matthew C. Kelly, Jordan C. Kelly, Brittany N. Gadson, Mercedes N. Kelly, Taulise J. Brown; great-grandchildren, Elijah Kelly, Jada Taylor, Aries Kelly, Arron Gadson, Kartier Watford, Jabari Smith; host of nieces , nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Sr. and Leoma; husband, Floyd Sr.; son, Floyd Jr.; and brother, Willie James Jr. Visitation for Hattie will be at 11 am on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Hoven Funeral Home, 414 E. Front St., Buchanan, MI 49107. Funeral service will follow starting at Noon. Burial will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI.
