Obituary for Haywood Rant Stevens Conway… Haywood Rant Stevens, age 63, passed away suddenly Thursday, June 28, 2018 at his residence. Haywood would always say “Once you touch my life, you are a part of me forever” Born September 12, 1954 in Conway, he was the son of the late Hayward George Stevens and Molly Ann Stevens. Mr. Stevens proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He worked as a concrete foreman and a timber faller. He also worked at Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill and as a rafting guide in the state of Washington. Mr. Stevens was larger than life and never met a stranger.

In fact, he was known for giving everyone a nickname. Even though he lived in Washington State for a while, Conway was always his home. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the VA in Charleston for all of their kindness and support, especially Eve Edwards Hosking and Dr. Jenny Riley.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Cheryl Lynn Stevens; a daughter, Wendy Stevens of Conway; a son, Tracy Stevens (Natalie) of Conway; two grandchildren, Coleman Puckett and Dalton Stevens; two sisters, Marcy Terry of Conway and Darlene Byers (Brent) of Leesburg, VA; two nieces; one nephew; and three dogs. He will be missed by many friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
