Henry “Red” Miniard, 88 of Big Laurel, KY passed from this life on Saturday June 9, 2018 at his home. Red was born May 8, 1930 in Big Laurel to the late Alfred and Nancy Turner Miniard. By trade he was a logger, and was well known for Miniard’s Grocery in Big Laurel that he and his late wife Jewell had for several years.

He was a great hunter, fisherman, outdoors man, and known for his love of softball. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Jewell Turner Miniard; brothers, Denver and William “Shorty”; his sisters, Rose, Ophia, Grace, Belvy, and Camillie. He is survived by his companion, Jewel Overbay; sister, Pauline Ellington; special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Colburn and Phyllis Turner; special friends, Jim Rich, Sr, Eddie Coots, Benny K. (Betty Sue) Coots, Michael Harris, Don Harris, Jimmy, Angel & Mary Lewis, he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many community friends to mourn his passing.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday (June 14) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Overbay, Rev.

Eugene Harris, and Rev. Nathan Boggs officiating. Graveside services will be 12:00 pm Friday (June 15) at the Big Laurel Cemetery, Eddie Coots, Benny K. Coots, Johnny Wayne Harris, Michael Harris, Jesse Williams, Ronne Dale Caldwell, Wayne Overbay, and Michael Brock will serve as Pallbearers.
