Emory Saylor 95, of Loyall, Kentucky passed away Sunday, October 21,2018 at his residence. Emory was a lifelong resident of Harlan. He was a coal miner for fifteen years, he also worked at Harlan Ford Motor Company and Ball Service station before retiring.
He believed in the Pentecostal faith, and dedicated his life to Jesus Christ, paving the way for his family and the generations that followed. He was a member and deacon at Molus Pentecostal Church for over fifty three years. He was a decorated veteran of World War II where he served in active duty from January 1st 1943 to January 3rd 1946.
He was stationed in Germany, Northern France, and Central Europe. He is a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge, member of the 640th quartermaster company. He received the WW2 Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 4 bronze stars.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Malvery Saylor. Wife of fifty years, Dora Ellen Saylor. Brothers: William (Bill) Saylor, Lazarus Saylor, Monroe Saylor, Garfield Saylor.
One daughter: Judie Earls Saylor. He is survived his son, Carroll (Mary) Saylor, Las Vegas, Nevada. Three daughters, Judy (Jim) Hensley Independence, Ky.
Diane (Tim) Frazier, Loyall Kentucky, Edna (Robby) Blackburn, Loyall Kentucky. Emory also leaves behind grandchildren: Chandra (Scott) Howard, Baxter,Ky; Michael (Antoneta) Saylor, Las Vegas, Nevada; Christopher James (LeslieAnn) Saylor, Las Vegas, Nevada; Seth and Emily Blackburn, Loyall, Ky. Kayla and Jeffrey Smith, Middlesboro, Ky.
Great grandchild: Hunter, Connor and Morgan Blevins, Martiza, Fionna, Chloe Saylor, and Alaina Saylor, Taylor Fields, Tye Howard. His Sister, Alice B. Saylor of Independence, KY; several nieces, nephews, other relatives to mourn his passing. The family would like to also give special recognition to Premier Caregiver services, for the past 9 years of dedicated service.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, (Oct. 24) 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Anderson Laws and Jones Funeral Home. Funeral services will be condcuted on Thursday, (Oct.
25) at 1:00 pm in the chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Pastors Jerry Laudermilk and John Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith with Military Rites being observed by the Harlan Honor Guard who will also serve as Pallbearers.
