Obituary for Hervey Ortiz, Jr. Hervey Ortiz Jr., age 66, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018 here in Del Rio. He was born on February 14, 1952 in Del Rio. Hervey loved spending time with his family.

His most remembered quote will always be, “Fire it up! ”. He loved all of his children dearly.

Hervey had a great sense of humor and enjoyed putting a smile on everyone’s face. Preceding him in death was his father, Hervey P. Ortiz, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Samuel and Feliz Ortiz; and maternal grandparents, Victoriano and Cordilia Rodriguez. Family members left to cherish his memory include his mother, Elida R. Ortiz of Del Rio; fiancée, Terri Arons of Del Rio; children: David Ortiz of Denver, CO, June Soto of San Antonio, Jesse Cheek of Bella Vista, AR, and Holly Myers of Bentonville, AR; sisters: Sandra D. West of Del Rio, Sonia Flores and husband Armando Flores of Big Lake, TX, and Soila Torres and husband Gerardo Torres of Del Rio; Hervey is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Trinity Chapel of Faith. A Prayer Service will begin at 7 p.m. A Chapel Service officiated by Sister Romelia Rodriguezis is scheduled for Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Armando Flores, Michael West, Angel Cardona, Juan Colunga, Bradley Drennan, and Gerardo Torres III.
