Hoda’s Obituary Hoda Selim Nasr, 84, of Media, Pennsylvania, formerly of Hermitage, died January 24, 2019, at Rose Tree Place in Media of natural causes. On March 24, 1934, she was born in Cairo, Egypt, a daughter of the late Monira (Hanna) and Selim Guirguis. Hoda pursued her undergraduate education in Egypt, and then graduated from Carnegie Mellon and the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in teaching.

She worked as a home economics teacher and then worked for a hospital in dietary services. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Hermitage. Hoda was a longtime member of the Gideons International Auxiliary.

She loved to travel and to cook. Her baklava was famous in the Shenango Valley for years. Most recently, she enjoyed making pottery.

Survivors include one son, Daniel Mark Nasr and his wife, Mary Kate, of Philadelphia; and two granddaughters, Grace and Claire, whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Daniel Nan Nasr, whom she married Aug. 25, 1960.

He passed away Feb. 4, 2015. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Sabry El-Assuooty.

NASR Hoda Selim, 84, of Media, formerly of Hermitage. Calling hours: From 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (1-31-19) at JOHN FLYNN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC. , 2630 E. State St., Hermitage, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday (2-1-19) at First Assembly of God Church, 1455 N. Keel Road, Hermitage.

Service: Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday (2-1-19) at the church, with the Rev. Kenneth Martin officiating. Entombment: St. Rose Cemetery.
