Obituary for Howard Henry Puder Howard Henry Puder was born April 26, 1929, in Ortonville, Minnesota. He was the son of Artah Mary (Mueller) Puder. Howard graduated from Big Stone High School in 1947.

After high school he studied Agriculture at South Dakota State College. On August 6, 1954 he was united in marriage to LaDonna Nieno at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with six children: Sue, Peggy, Mary Jo, James, Michael, and Sally.

On August 6, 2018, Howard and LaDonna celebrated 64 years of marriage. Through the years Howard organized and sang in an AG Quartet, sang in the Ortonville Men’s Chorus, served as a Scout Master in Big Stone, and played basketball. In June of 1955, Howard and LaDonna moved to Rochester and have resided there ever since.

Howard worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, working his way from telephone pole climber to a District Engineer. He retired in 1985 after 34 years of service. In addition to being a loving husband and father, Howard sang in the Rochester Men’s Chorus.

He was active in PTA at Elton Hills School. Howard was also involved in Junior Achievement, mentoring high school juniors and seniors in accounting, business, marketing and sales. Howard and LaDonna have a cabin in Itasca, Minnesota on Burnt Shanty Lake.

It was Howard’s dream to design and build a cabin for his family’s enjoyment. He accomplished that in 1995. LaDonna, “his children”, and his grandchildren will be able to enjoy his handiwork for years.

Howard and LaDonna were charter members of Bethany United Methodist in Rochester for 60 years. Bethany recently merged with Evangel United Methodist Church. Howard is survived by his wife, LaDonna; daughters, Sue Puder, Peggy (Paul) Bankers, Mary Jo Puder, and Sally (Mike) Axtell; sons, James (Julie) Puder, and Michael (Kandi) Puder.

He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother killed in World War II, and his sister. Funeral services for Howard Puder will be held Wednesday September 12 at 12:00 PM at Evangel United Methodist Church in Rochester.

The Reverend Mark Rader will officiate. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. He died Friday September 7, 2018 at the age of 89 at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
