Obituary for Gale J. Hoven Gale J. Hoven age 74 of Wanamingo died on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Methodist Campus. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 2:00 at Stordahl Lutheran Church in rural Zumbrota with Pastor Kathleen Lowery officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Gale Julian Hoven was born on June 18, 1944 on the family farm in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County, MN to George and Julia (Holthe) Hoven. He grew up on the farm, attended country school and graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1963. Gale attended the University of Minnesota.

After finishing his studies, Gale did some traveling and worked at several jobs including, Land-O-Lakes and Cannon Equipment. While working these jobs, Gale continued to help his father on the farm. After the death of his father, Gale took over the operation of the family farm.

On February 17, 1973 he married Gloria Warneke at Stordahl Lutheran Church. After sixteen years of marriage, they divorced. Gale was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and loved to watch their games on TV.

He also enjoyed traveling, attending his grandchildren’s school events and spending time with friends and family, especially the grandchildren. Gale served on the Roscoe Township Board for over forty years. Gale is survived by his children, Cherie (Tom) Andrist of Faribault, Rob (Stacy) Warneke of Pine Island, Jason (Tanya) Hoven of Brooklyn Park and Jessica Stanton of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Lily, Luke and Kiera Hoven, Mayme, Lydia, George and Julia Stanton, Isaac (Crystal) Andrist, Jacob (Allison) Andrist, Ben, Eliza, Will and Sam Warneke; great-grandchildren, Chase, Cora, Marcus, Lauren and Avery Andrist; sisters, Ilene (Donald) Simonson of Stillwater and Janice (James) Hayes of Wausau, WI and special friend, Paul (JoAnn) Stanton.

Gale was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home – Larson Chapel in Zumbrota. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Gale J. Hoven please visit our Sympathy Store.
