Obituary for Mr. Howard L. Ely Howard L. Ely of Neptune, in his 93rd year, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018. He was born and raised in Allentown, New Jersey. He proudly served in the Navy and Navy Reserves for the duration of World War II; afterwards earning his degree from McCallister Institute, graduating at the top of his class.

He established himself in business in the Ely Funeral Home of Asbury Park NJ and later moving the business out to Neptune NJ where he continued until his retirement. Howard was a respected and treasured member of the community, known for the respectful and kind care he gave to grieving families. He was active in the business community through Kiwanis and Free Masons, and served as a lifetime member of The Salvation Army advisory board of Asbury Park,NJ.

He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Davison Ely of Hightstown, NJ and his son, DeForest Ely of Brick. He is survived by his two daughters; Cindy & Ken Dellett of Key West, FL and Linda & Jim Koharski of Ocean Twp NJ, 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to visit Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 5-7pm and Thursday from 9-10am at the Ely Funeral Home, Neptune.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 10am at the Ely Funeral Home, Neptune followed by interment in Allentown Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Allentown, NJ.
