Obituary of Howard Comfort Howard “Buster” Comfort, 80, of Reading Center, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. He was born in Lawrenceville, PA on February 19, 1938, the son of the late Alfred and Bessie Comfort and attended school there. Buster served with the US Army.

In July of 1976, he married Esther (Knapp) in Montour Falls. Buster was a mechanic and contractor. He also owned with his wife, Comfort Cleaning Company.

He was an avid bowler, having many “300” games. He was a member of the Elks Lodge for over 40 years, and was a member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion. Buster umpired many years for Little League.

He played softball, enjoyed billiards, stock car racing, deer hunting and fishing. He was a loyal S.U. basketball fan. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Esther (Knapp) Comfort; children, Kathy Covert of Montour Falls, Deanna (Kevin) Reddout of Waterloo, Angela Coston of Watkins Glen, Rick Comfort of Montour Falls, Cliff (Peggy) Perry of Watkins Glen, Candy Ferguson of Oswego, and Mary Jane Perry of Penn Yan; special grandsons, Richard Covert and Jesse Knapp; and many other grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 1-2 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A funeral service will follow at 2 pm. Burial will be in Montour Cemetery.
