Ilse M. Kostendt, age 88, of North Royalton, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 20, 2019. She was born June 9, 1930 in Korneuburg, Austria, daughter of the late Theodor and Hedwig Stamminger. Ilse was a faithful member of St. Paul United Church of Christ.

She enjoyed reading and hand work. She loved all things outdoors, such as gardening, wildlife and feeding the birds and deer in her backyard. She was the devoted wife of 66 years to Walter Kostendt; cherished mother of Gerhard “Gary”, Werner “Ted”, and Heidemarie Chernushin; beloved grandmother of Nikolas, Alex, Tamara, Stephanie, Elizabeth, Margaret, Anthony, and Arthur; loving great grandmother of Laney, Dex, and Mary; caring sister of Helga Kocher of Germany; dear aunt and friend of many.

She was predeceased by her parents and two of her sisters. Visitation will take place Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 3PM – 5PM and Monday, February 25, from 12PM – 2PM in the Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd. , North Olmsted, OH 44070 where funeral service will commence at 2PM.

Entombment will immediately follow in the Westwood Abbey Mausoleum in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in Ilse’s name are suggested to Thomas Persiak Hospice, 18659 Drake Rd. , Strongsville, OH 44136 or St. Paul United Church of Christ, 7507 York Rd.
