LOWVILLE-Imelda P. Schneider, 92, formerly of Valley View Courts, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, where she has resided since March 1, 2012. The funeral will be at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Leon Runner, Pastor of Lowville Baptist Church officiating.

Calling hours are from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2018 prior to the funeral service, at the funeral home. Spring burial will be in Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Croghan. Contributions may be made to the Lowville Baptist Church, 7627 N. State Street, Lowville, NY 13367 or to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Deborah Schneider of Croghan; five grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is pre deceased by her beloved husband, Brayton E. Schneider, who died on June 26, 1991; a beloved son Gary Schneider; a sister, Irene Strife; three brothers, Elmer and Earl Virkler; and Timothy Virkler who died in infancy. Imelda was born on February 24, 1926 in Lowville, NY, a daughter of the Late Amos and Lillian Virkler and graduated from Lowville Academy in 1944.

While in high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society and sang in the High School Choir. On September 15, 1945, she married Brayton E. Schneider at the Lowville United Methodist Church. She worked for the New York State Agricultural Conservation Department for three years.

Together with her husband, owned and operated a dairy farm on Route 26, Lowville for several years. Mr. Schneider passed away on June 26, 1991. Imelda was a member of the Lowville Baptist Church and was active in the church choir.

She was a member of the former Lowville Grange for over 25 years. Imelda was also a member of the Lowville Senior Citizens Club. She helped with the 4-H program and was a past member of the East Lowville Homemakers.

She was a volunteer for the Lewis County Opportunities Crisis Prevention Hotline for several years, and was past treasurer for the residents council of Valley View Courts. Imelda was a past member of Lewis County General Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She was a past volunteer at the Thrift Shop in Lowville.
