Irene K Calvel, February 17, 1951 — December 24, 2018

Obituary for Irene K. Calvelage Irene K. Calvelage, 67, of Delphos, passed away at 12:57 a.m. on December 24, 2018 at Whetstone Care Center in Columbus. She was born on February 17, 1951 to Arthur and Thelma (Pohlman) Hoersten. She was preceded in death by her father.

Her mother survives in Delphos. She married Paul C. ‘Chuck’ Calvelage on April 20, 1974. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2000.

She is survived by a son, Tony Calvelage, of Lima; and a daughter Laura (Ken) Baird of Columbus; as well as her two grandsons, Paul and Kieran Baird. Other survivors include two brothers, Ken (Jo) Hoersten of Fremont, MI; and Tom (Lisa) Hoersten of Oregon, OH; two sisters Jane Wittler and Evy (Jerry) Martin, both of Ft. Jennings; brothers-in-law Tim (Sue) and Rick (Jan) Calvelage, and Lee (Esther) Searcy; as well as dozens of nieces and nephews and extended family.

A 1969 graduate of Delphos St. John High School, Irene was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and took great comfort in regularly attending mass. She retired after 25 years as a librarian assistant at the Delphos Public Library, which was the perfect job for her, as she loved to read and help people. Irene was always a dependable presence for anyone who needed her: family, friends, and library patrons alike.

She loved being with her grandchildren, especially spending special time with her oldest grandson at the movies and Chuck E Cheese. She also enjoyed walking around town for exercise, watching too much HGTV, and the occasional drumstick or chocolate ice cream cone from the Creamery. A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will begin 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with burial following at Resurrection Cemetery.

Friends and family may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28, with a Parish Wake Service at 7:45 p.m.; and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Weber Funeral Home 1840 E.
