Irene W. Millikan, 95, of Savoy passed away at 3:00 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel in Urbana. Pastor Casey Taylor will officiate.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign after the funeral. Irene was born in Maunie, IL on March 1, 1923 to parents Fred and Katherine (Roser) Wohlhueter.

They preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were eight siblings; Ralph Wohlhueter , Victor Wohlhueter , Oscar Wohlhueter, Cyril Wohlhueter, Gilbert Wohlhueter, Agnes Gunter, Vivian Deffenbaugh and Gerald Wohlhueter. On September 6, 1951 Irene married Dallas Millikan in Carmi, IL.

Dallas passed away on October 11, 1994. She is survived by her two sons; Thomas Millikan (Debbie) of Savoy and Timothy Millikan (Bonnie) of Urbana. Three grandchildren; Ryan Millikan, Rebecca Millikan (Randy) and Stephanie Slade (Michael) and three great grandchildren; Sienna, Tagen and Preslie also survive her.

During WWII she worked at two plants in Evansville, IN. , one as an ammunition inspector and the second in production of the corsair. Irene loved being a Teacher’s Assistant for the Urbana School District.

She helped teachers and students at Booker T. Washington Elementary, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary and Yankee Ridge Elementary for over twenty-five years. She also assisted Dallas with Millikan Masonry. She was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
