Obituary for Irene “Winnie” Hollands IRENE “WINNIE” HOLLANDS Irene “Winnie” Hollands (nee Maiorano) passed away peacefully on July 3, 2018, at the age of 95. Born on April 26, 1923, to Michelangelo and Angiolamaria she grew up on Main Street, Nyack and attended St. Ann’s and Nyack Schools. After marrying, she returned to Main Street to raise her two children and care for her father.

With her husband, Winnie owned and operated bakeries in Cornwall and Tappan, NY, and after retiring, she continued to be active in the community while volunteering as a Foster Grandparent for 24 years. She loved and cherished each and every child who called her “Grandma”. She was blessed with the kindness and care provided by the devoted team at Tappan Zee Manor since 2015.

She is survived by her two children, Robert (Anne) Hollands and Joanne Hollands, her brothers-in-law Arthur and Richard Hollands, her five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who will dearly miss her lively spirit. She is pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 69 years, Robert Hollands, Sr., and her siblings Joseph Maiorano, Anna Bindewald, Minnie Wamsley, Mary Bosco, Michael Maiorano, Reginald Maiorano, and Amelia Longo. Visiting will be held on Sunday from 3 PM to 6 PM at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday at 10 AM at St. Ann’s RC Church in Nyack. Burial will follow at the Rockland County VA Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY. Donations can be made in Winnie’s memory to Foster Grandparents, Office for the Aging.
