Obituary for Sister Ann Connolly, O.P. SISTER ANN CONNOLLY, O.P., formerly Sister M. Arthur, a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt, New York, for the past 67 years died on November 12, 2018 in Montifiore Hospital, Bronx, NY. She was 84 years of age. Sr. Ann was born on November 22, 1933 in the Bronx, N.Y., the daughter of Arthur Connolly and Catherine McCabe Connolly.

She entered the Sisters of St. Dominic on September 12, 1951 from St. Nicholas of Tolentine Parish, Bronx. Sr. Ann received the Dominican habit on July 2, 1952, professed her first vows on July 3, 1953, and final vows on July 3, 1956. Sister received a BS in Education from Dominican College, Blauvelt, N.Y. and an MS in Education (Administration and Supervision) from Fordham University.

Her many years in ministry were devoted to the education of youth. She taught at St. Dominic School, Blauvelt, (1954-1955); St. Luke School, Bronx (1955-1962); and St. Anthony School, Oceanside, LI (1962-1968). She served as Principal at St. Luke School (1968-1972) and at St. Margaret’s School, Pearl River, NY (1972-1992).

Following a sabbatical she returned to teaching at Cardinal Hays High School, Bronx (1993- 2002), after which she ministered at St. Raymond Academy for Girls (2003-2011). Upon retiring in 2011, Sr. Ann volunteered at St. Luke’s School and Siena House, Bronx until her death. In addition to her religious congregation, Sr. Ann is survived by her brothers James and Patrick, her sisters-in- law Julie and Margaret, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
