Obituary of Irene Chapman Irene E. Chapman, 93, formerly of Watts Flats and Tanglewood Manor, passed away Thursday October 25, 2018 in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born January 23, 1925 in Watts Flats the daughter of the late Clyde and Ruth Willetts Chapman. Prior to retirement, Irene was employed at the T. James Clarke Box Factory and Anderson Cleaners.

She was a graduate of Panama High School and was a member of the Watts Flats United Methodist Church where she was active in Youth Fellowship. She was also a member of the South Harmony Grange, Harmony Legion Auxiliary, and the Star of Hope Rebekah’s in Watts Flats. For years, Irene was a babysitter for many kids in the Watts Flats area.

She is survived by her sister in law, Donna Chapman of Ashville, a niece, Diana Wehrenberg of Ashville; a nephew, James (Jane) Chapman of Busti; one great niece; four great nephews; and a cousin, Kathy Smith of West Ellicott. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Merle E. Chapman who died March 29, 2005; and two nephews, M. Alan Chapman and Larry Chapman. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Watts Flats United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Warren Van Dewark, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Watts Flats.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Saturday in the church. Memorials may be made to the Watts Flats United Methodist Church, PO Box 7, Ashville, NY 14710.
