Irma Howell Smith July 08, 1927 – February 17, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Kinder-Irma Howell Smith, born July 8, 1927 to parents Henry Howell and Teenie Maricle Howell in Elizabeth, La. , entered rest in the early morning hours Sunday, February 17, 2019, at Kinder Retirement and Rehabilitation Center with family by her side. The funeral service will be at Grace Community Church in Kinder at 10 a.m. Friday, February 22.

Officiating will be Rev. T.L. Smith and Rev. Rod Nesmith.

Burial will follow in Green Oak Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes. Visitors can pay their respects at the Grace Community Church Thursday, February 21, from 3-9 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service. Irma was a Kinder resident for 75 years.

She was of the Pentecostal faith and a faithful member of Grace Community Church for 60 years. For 27 years, she worked as a custodian at Kinder High School. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Irma will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish Irma’s memory include her three sons, Philip (Phyllis) Smith of Taylorsville, KY, Jack Jr. (Mary Jane) of Lake Charles, and Ronald Smith of Kinder; one daughter, Doris Smith of Lake Charles; daughter-in-law, Pamela R. (James) Smith of Kinder; nine grandchildren, Shannon Smith, Regina Smith (Lake Charles), Tammie Elmore, Gabriel Wilson, Heather Johnson (Taylorsville, KY), Dustin Smith (Houston, TX), Tiffany Smith (North Carolina), and Hayley and Lauren Smith (Kinder); eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren Irma is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Smith; two sons, Rodney G. Smith and James R. Smith; her parents, five sisters, and three brothers. The family would like to thank the staff at Kinder Retirement and Rehabilitation Center, Dr. Peggy Allemand, and Dr. Alex Courville for their excellent care and to her friends and church family who were a comfort to her in her last years.
