Obituary for James VanOrmer Sr. James A. VanOrmer Sr. 92 of Altoona Passed away on Thursday May 31, 2018 at his home. He was born January 22, 1926 in Altoona, son of the late Glenn and Ruth (McClain) VanOrmer. He married Velda J Boston in September of 1945 in Altoona and she preceded her in death on May 2, 2012.

Surviving are 4 daughters- Mary Bennett, Darlene Manspeaker, Sandy Snowberger, and Peggy Bailor, 3 sons- Ralph, Robert, and Joe VanOrmer, 1 sister- Jeannie Loomis, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. James was preceded in death by a son- James A. VanOrmer Jr He retired as a property caretaker for the Altoona City Water Authority.

James enjoyed hunting, Reading Westerns, auto racing, and he was a member of the Bavarian Aide Society and Cesare Battisti Club. Friends will be received from 2p.m. – 4p.m. Tuesday June 5, 2018 at The Good Funeral Home Inc. where a funeral service will be held Wednesday June 6, 2018 at 10a.m. with Pastor Alex Hildebrand officiant. Interment will be at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.
