Obituary for Vincent “Cork” McDermitt Vincent E. ‘Cork’ McDermitt June 7, 1942 – July 25, 2018 Vincent E. “Cork” McDermitt, 76, Altoona, died Wednesday at Hillview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, after an extended illness. He was born in Williamsburg, son of the now late Vincent E. Sr. and Frances G. (Homan) McDermitt. On March 15, 1965, he married Judith A. Shaheen in Duncansville.

Surviving are his wife Judith; three daughters: Pam Boring-Moyer, Melinda Boring- Breth (Fred) and Wendy McDermitt-Hanwell, all of Altoona; four grandchildren: Jeffrey Garvey, Josh Breth, Erica VonColln and Matthew Moyer; five great-grandchildren; three siblings: Gayle Socey (Ron), and Jim and Rick McDermitt, all of Altoona; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Harry. Cork was a U.S. Army veteran and served from 1960-63. He was an owner and operator truck driver and retired in 2012 after 45 years on the road.

He enjoyed reading and telling stories. All services will be private. Interment will be at Alto- Reste Park Cemetery.
