OBITUARY James Arthur LeGeyt March 15, 1938 – December 17, 2018 James “Jim” A. LeGeyt, 80, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 47 years of Rose Marie (Windl) LeGeyt, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Born in Hartford on March 15, 1938, he was the son of the late Clinton A. and Annette (LeDoux) LeGeyt. Growing up, he spent many happy summers at Pleasure Beach in Waterford.
Jim was a graduate of Wethersfield High School and attended UConn. He was also a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He resided in Rocky Hill prior to moving to Wethersfield in 1973, where he lived until his death.
Jim retired from SNET after 38 years of dedicated service and also worked for many years as the Assistant Registrar in Wethersfield. After his retirement, he worked part time for the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel. He was an avid boater for over 60 years, working as a Captain for both Deep River Navigation and Lady Katharine Cruises.
He was a past Commander and lifetime member of the Wethersfield Cove Yacht Club. Jim was a former member of the U.S. Power Squadron, the Telephone Pioneers and was a donor for the Red Cross. He was also an avid skier and a former member of the Mt.
Laurel Ski Club for many years. He was a longtime, faithful communicant of the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield. He enjoyed scuba diving, tennis, skiing, big ship cruises and vacationing on Block Island and yearly trips to North Conway, NH and Clinton, CT.
He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and UConn Basketball. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Jim will be forever missed by his wife RoseMarie; two children, Clint LeGeyt and wife Nicole Bearse LeGeyt of Camas, Washington and Nicole Windl Arsenault and fiancé Tim McKenzie of Cromwell and his four adored grandchildren who brought him so much joy, Tyler and Brynn LeGeyt and Riley and Brody Arsenault.
He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Ennis and husband Bob of Newington and Anne Noonan of Newington, as well as several beloved nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Merece and Jim Goodwin and a nephew, Jimmy Goodwin. Jim will be remembered for his contagious smile and fun loving personality.
Funeral services will begin on Thursday (January 3) at 9 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Burial will be in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
