Mr. James E. Alexander, age 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. James was born in South Bend on February 20, 1943 to the late Frances Kitchen and Ollie Alexander. James was a loving and caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.

He enjoyed old school cars, washing and detailing at Hi-Speed Car Wash, collecting scrap as a hobby with friends and was always a happy, joyful man. James was employed with the City of South Bend Sanitation and enjoyed 30+ years of dedicated work before retiring on February 28, 2008. James was loved and cherished by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

James is survived by his four loving children: Kevin Alexander of South Bend, Patrick Alexander of South Bend, Francine Alexander of Atlanta, GA and Leroy (LeAnna) Alexander of Indianapolis, IN. James is also survived by sisters Vermidean Moore of South Bend and Helen (Luther Sr.) Allen of South Bend; brothers Eugene Alexander of California, Frances (Virginia) Reid of South Bend and Robert Reid of California; dear and close friend James Williams as well as 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. James was preceded in death by father Frances Kitchen; mother Ollie Alexander; brothers Albert Reid and Haywood Alexander; daughter-in-law LeAnna Alexander.

Services for Mr. James E. Alexander will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend. Friends may call on the family for visitation for one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Rev.
