James E. (Jim) Gatterdam, born October 2,1928, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2018. Jim was an Army and Navy Veteran and a member of the VFW and American Legion. He cherished friends and camaraderie while volunteering at the VA Dental Clinic.

Jim spent 30 years in the savings and loan business with Main Federal, Freedom Federal and Equitable Federal in Lancaster. Jim served on the Boards of The Saint Vincent’s Children Center, Catholic Social Services, The Franklin County 648 Board, The George Igel Co., President of the Bexley and St. Catharine Booster Clubs, and American Legion Post 430. Jim is preceded in death by parents Nicholas J. and Eleanor Meyer Gatterdam, brothers Nicholas A., Richard Paul, Charles F., sister Patricia Ann Schwenker, and twin brother John T. (Jack).

Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Margaret Ann; children James (Lisa), Kurt, Patty (Dr. David) Weisgerber, Richard (Kathy); grandchildren Michael, Daniel, Alan, Emma, Kate and Emily; many extended family members and dear friends. Friends may call Friday 3-6 p.m. at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. Broad St. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday 10:00 a.m. at St. Catharine Church, 500 S. Gould Rd. Burial St. Joseph Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Capital City Hospice for their outstanding care and the staff at Kensington. In lieu of flowers donations made in Jim’s name to support your favorite veterans organization would be greatly appreciated.
