James E. Harvey 74 of New Cumberland passed away at the Orchards of East Liverpool on Friday, September 21, 2018, following a brief illness. Born in Glen Jean, West Virginia on May 11, 1944, he was a son of the late Joseph L. and Evelynn V. Stewart Harvey. A 44-year employee of the West Virginia State Park System, Jim was the superintendent at Tomlinson Run State Park in New Manchester for 29 years.

He was the past president of the Tomlinson Run State Park Foundation and of the Brooke-Hancock Convention and Visitors Bureau. Also, Jim was a member of the Hancock County Old Time Fair Board of Directors, and he was a graduate of the Mount Hope High School in Mount Hope West Virginia. Survivors include his son, James T. Harvey of New Cumberland; his daughter, Jessica D. Zimmermann of Ohio; his brother, Joseph L. Harvey of Washington State; and many close friends and acquaintances.

Services will be held at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Monday, September 24, at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Tom Schneidmiller will officiate. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-6 p.m., and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tomlinson Run State Park Foundation at P.O. Box 97, New Manchester, WV. 26056.
