James’ Obituary James Eugene McWatty, Jr., 73 of Loris, SC left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Thursday January 31, 2019 with his caring wife by his side after a long battle with Alzheimers. He was born April 14, 1945 in Wilmington, NC; the son of the late James Eugene McWatty, Sr. and Lyda Gilliam McWatty. Also lovingly remembered is his sister, Barbara McWatty Becker.

James was very knowledgeable in many aspects of life. He worked in several family businesses such as S & G Concrete and Bradley Creek Marina in Wilmington, NC. He was also a farmer for quite a few years of his life in Burgaw, NC.

Later he and Laurie moved to Horry County SC where he went to Horry Georgetown Technical College and received a degree in HVAC. James loved sailing and boating. He also could build or fix just about anything.

He loved to share his ideas of how to do something. Unfortunately, this terrible disease took that away from us. However James loved God, his Lord and Savior before his sickness and after.

His love for Him never faltered. He loved to go to church and he was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Laurie Thigpen McWatty of the home;children Lisa Ann McWatty (Michael) of Wilmington, NC, James Ashley McWatty (Emily) of Raleigh, NC, Allyson McWatty Neal (Kevin) of Wilmington, NC, Katie Jean McWatty of South Lyon, Michigan, Timothy James McWatty of Loris, SC and Lyda Hope McWatty (Josh) of Myrtle Beach, SC ; brother, Ronald Gilliam McWatty of Rocky Point, NC ; grandchildren, Teagan Jones, Annalee, Zoey and Adam McWatty; two special furry friends, Simon and Callie. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church 4301 Red Bluff Road Loris, SC 29569.

The family will see friends an hour prior to the service.
