Bennettsville Mr. James Franklin Turner passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at his residence after an illness. He was 80 years old. Mr. Turner was born in Bennettsville on February 22, 1939 to the late Clarence “Kenny” and Laura “Tissy” Walters Turner Carpenter.

He was a mechanic and machine operator for JP Stevens for 45 years, and also worked for Smithfield and on the dairy farm. He enjoyed yardwork, hunting, fishing, going to auctions, but most importantly spending time with his family. He leaves behind to cherish his memory; sons, James Franklin Turner, Jr. “Buck” (Lisa) of Arat, NC and Wayne Turner (Amber) of Bennettsville, SC; daughter, Angel Branton (Glenn) of McColl, SC; brother, George Martin Carpenter of Alabama; grandchildren, Megan (John) Mcguirt, Lil Wayne Turner, Kenny Turner, Daniel Turner, Maisyn Turner, Blake Turner, Aaron Jackson, Carlee Jackson; great grandchildren, Jazlyn Locklear and John Mcquirt, Jr

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above; wife, Martha Ellen Polston Turner; brother, Clarence Turner, Jr., Gene Wilson Carpenter, Edward Thomas Carpenter, Jr.; sister, Eva Lou Rippy. A funeral service will be held 3:00pm, Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Burroughs Funeral Home, with burial at Tatum Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Gerald McDowell.

A visitation will be held from 2-3 pm just prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial are suggested to Hospice of SC, 1039 Cheraw Hwy. , Bennettsville, SC 29512 Online condolences may be made @ www.
