James J. Laidler Age 82, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home of Will County. Survived by his loving wife of 29 years Shirley (Brink) Neverman-Laidler; beloved children James (Louise Kirz) Laidler, Kelly Laidler, Kristina (Jake) Laidler, Deanna Laidler, step children Gary (Vicki) Neverman and Teri (Jeff) Stubler; cherished grandchildren Benjamin, David Laidler, Katie Erkenbeck, step granddaughter Taylor Neverman; one sister Judith Kay Groth. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by his first wife Ruth I. Laidler; parents Joseph and Nellie Laidler. Born in Pittsburg, Kansas, a Lockport resident. He served in the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge in 1965.

Employed by Westinghouse Hanford Co. from 1970-1988 and Argonne National Laboratory 1988- 2005. Jim as a member of Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church, Theta Chi Fraternity, chapter President 1957-1958 and Sigma Gamma Epsilon Honorary Fraternity, Fellow of the American Nuclear Society and American Chemical Society. The family would like to Thank Joliet Area Community Hospice and Sunny Hill Nursing Home and a special Thank You to Dale-Jakuboniene for the loving care given to Jim.

Funeral Services will be held at the Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church, Monday November 5, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Visitation Monday at church from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
