James “J.D.” Diebold, 76, of Rockford, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 in his home. Born August 31, 1941, the son of Ernest and Emma (Payton) Diebold. Married Janet Schmaling, in Rockford, on November 10, 1963.

He was employed by Bachrodt Motors for 43 years. J.D. enjoyed spending time with his family, walks in the park with his wife and their Dobermans and his three “Grand Dogs”. He will be truly missed.

Predeceased by his parents, wife Janet; sisters Lillian Verhagen, Grace Diebold and Maude Turville. The Family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and staff at U.W. Hospital Madison, Agrace Hospice Care, Visiting Angels and Home Instead Senior Care for all their care and support.

Celebration of life will be 7 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. , Rockford, IL 61108, with visitation from 5 pm until time of service. Memorials to The Puppy Mill Project in his name.
