James Edward (Jim) Laux, age 91, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018. He was born in the Town of Larabee, WI on June 4, 1927, the son of the late Edward and Mathilda (Young) Laux. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Machinist’s Mate during World War II on the U.S.S. San Marcos and U.S.S. Crater in the Pacific rim.

Jim and Louella M. Frederick were married on October 1, 1949 and celebrated 68 years together. Jim was an avid outdoorsmen and particularly enjoyed hunting, boating, and fishing near his cottage in Phelps, WI. Jim retired from Allis Chalmers in 1991.

He enjoyed sharing many stories of time spent in the Navy and his life adventures with family and friends. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Louella; eight children: Christine (Dennis) Boldt, Kevin (Lois) Laux, Cindy Bodway, Kathy (John) Schuh, Connie (Randy) Swanson, Karla (Joel) Seidler, Colleen (John) Altman, and Kenneth Laux; 15 grandchildren: Sonia, Tara, Angela, Taylor, Carly, Brandon, Justin, Derek, Bryce, Brett, Abby, Stuart, Travis, Alex and Morgan, 13 great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sister in-law Henrietta Frederick, and brother in-law, Bill Miller.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Mathilda (Tillie) Laux; two brothers: Edward (Bud) Laux and Richard G. Laux; four sisters: Delores Gustafson, Margaret Hughes Chandler, Laverne Olmsted and Lorraine Miller; mother and father in-law: Anna and William Frederick; two sisters in-law: Stella Schink Ermers and Delores Mainz; five brothers in-law: George Frederick, Wilber Frederick, Harold Frederick, Leslie Frederick, and Eugene Frederick. Mass of Christian burial for Jim will be 11:30 AM on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2331 E. Lourdes Drive, Appleton, with Fr.

Don Zuleger officiating. Visitation will be held at the church Tuesday morning beginning at 9:00 until 11:15 AM, with Mass to follow at 11:30 AM. Entombment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 1815 E. Wisconsin Ave, Appleton, at 2:00 PM with full military honors.

Jim’s family would like to especially thank his super group of caregivers at Ascension Hospice and all the wonderful staff at Care Partners.
