Obituary for James “Jim” Ziegler James E. “Jim” Ziegler, 55, of Plainville, passed away Wednesday (October 24, 2018) unexpectedly at his home. Born in New Britain, son of the late Edmund Ziegler MD. and Lorraine “Sis” (Kennedy) Ziegler, he was a longtime New Britain resident, moving to Plainville four years ago.

Jim was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Class of 1981, and was employed as a Manager at Dunbar Security for the past 15 years. Prior to that, he was a Pressman for over 20 years at the New Britain Herald. He was a member of St. Maurice Church of St. Katherine Drexel Parish in New Britain.

Surviving are two brothers, Thomas Ziegler and his wife Barbara of Torrington; and Philip Ziegler of New Britain; two sisters, Mary Ziegler Carpenter of Plainville; and Suzanne Ghiloni and her husband Christopher of Braintree, MA; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion “Rusty”. Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by three brothers, Francis and Kevin Ziegler and Mark Keyser-Ziegler. Funeral service are Tuesday 9 AM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM at St. Maurice Church, 100 Wightman Road, New Britain.

Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday 5 to 7 PM at Carlson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society 500 West Putnam Ave.
