James L. “Jim” Reck, 74, of Westminster, died Monday, September 24, 2018, at Copper Ridge. Born February 17, 1944 in Westminster, he was the son of the late Althea L. (Magin) Reck and Harry Reck. He was the beloved husband of the late R. Jane Reck.

Early in his career he worked as a high school math teacher and vice principal at South Carroll High School. He was the former owner of Reck Real Estate and Glade Valley Golf Course. He was a graduate of Westminster High School, Western Maryland College and Morgan State University.

He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Westminster Rotary Club, Westminster Elks, Door to Virtue Masonic Lodge No. 46 AF & AM, Bon Air Country Club and served as Past President of the Westminster Riding Club. He enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren’s school and sporting events.

He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Chris Budzynski of Westminster and Karen and Todd Stiffler of New Freedom, PA; a brother Donald Reck and wife Gerri of Westminster; grandchildren Nicholas and Will Budzynski, Daniel, Emma, Megan and Rachel Stiffler. He was predeceased by a brother Robert “Bob” Reck. The family will receive friends to celebrate Jim’s life on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 12 to 3 p.m. at Paradiso Ristorante, 20 Distillery Rd.

, Westminster, MD 21157. Private inurnment will be held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.
