James Lynn Davis of Many, Louisiana February 11, 1935 – March 9, 2019 James Lynn Davis born February 11, 1935 died March 9, 2019. He leaves three children, Vikki Lynne, her husband, Rickey, their three sons, Craig Alan, his wife, Margaret, their three sons and Eric Harmon, his wife, Laura and their son and daughter. He was blessed last year with a great granddaughter.

The youngest of seven children of B. F. and Charlotte Davis. His siblings, Herman, Reginald, Carlena, Arlene and Lillian all preceded him in death. He has a surviving brother, George Allen from Monroe and numerous nieces and nephews.

After serving in Korea and attending Louisiana State University Law School, he remained a lifelong resident of Sabine Parish. Born in Gandy, Louisiana, he graduated from Florien High School. Later while attending Northwestern University in Natchitoches, he served in the ROTC.

Graduating with a degree in mathematics, he supplemented his income during those years refereeing high school basketball games after working in the university’s dairy. One summer, he worked at a sugar mill and another he hauled logs. He obtained his law degree after the birth of his daughter and began his career in law.

He practiced in northern Louisiana for fifty years and served as District Attorney for ten. While practicing, he continued his service to his country in the Army Reserves Jag unit. He retired as Lieutenant Colonel.

While practicing law, he developed many business relationships that continue to this day. He has many close relationships because of these activities. He was a private pilot and an avid golfer until his physical abilities failed.

In spite of his declining health, he continued to “go to the office” and “set everyone straight” until this week. He will be missed. Funeral service will be Friday, March 15, 2019 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Many, Louisiana with Rev.

Wilton Anthony officiating. Burial will follow in the Florien Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Warren Meadows Funeral Home, Many, LA.
