Memorial services for James Michael Speers, 60, of Gilmer, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, in the Chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home. Michael was born June 9, 1958, in Hopewell, Virginia, to Jimmy Speers and Pearl Jean McNeill Speers, and passed away February 24, 2019, in Gilmer, Texas, at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Speers; daughters, Felicia Nicole Speers and fiancé, Dustin Lee McPherson; son, Brandon Jon Stowater; step daughters, Kelly Garrison and husband, Jason Garrison, Kimberly Wilson, and husband, Joshua Wilson; step son, Jeffery Harris and wife, Cynthia Paige Harris; grandchildren, Logan Michael Speers, Daniel Ray Elliff, Adalyn Nicole Bos, Connor Gene Bos, Zadin Garrison, Jameson Garrison, Aiden Wilson, Jocelyn Wilson, Caleb Harris, Samuel Harris; sisters, Alicia Davis, Lori Marshall, and husband, Doug, Patricia Chartier, and husband, Jim Kelliher; and by his mother, Pearl Jean Speers.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Gene Speers. He loved to fish, watch football, and was like a Heinz 57. He liked to do a little of everything.

He was a mechanic for years and began a career with Pepsi which he loved. James was all about his family and grandchildren. His dream was to retire and build a ninja warrior course for his grandchildren and sit on the back porch and watch them play.
