Graveside services for Walter M. Jones, Jr., 85, of Gilmer will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Enoch Cemetery with Mike Jones officiating. No formal visitation will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of McWhorter Funeral Home.

Walter was born October 9, 1933, to Walter Martin Jones, Sr. and Jewel Onieda Britt Jones and passed from this life March 14, 2019 at his home. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was retired Command Sergeant Major and fulltime technician/soldier of the Army National Guard after 42 years of service.

Walter married Barbara Ann Ramsey Jones, June 1, 1973 in Durant, Oklahoma. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Jones; sons and daughters-in-laws, Mike & Terry Jones, Danny & Cherie Jones, Rick & Melody Jones, Michael Lawrence, Larry & Nancy Lawrence; daughters and sons-in-laws, Debbie & Alan Wade and Tina Smith; brothers, Charles Jones and Gene Jones; sister, Jane Gravitt; 29 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
