Obituary for James R. Burney Sr. James R. Burney Sr., 92, of Dundee, Florida passed away on June 17, 2018 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was born on January 3, 1926 in Adel, Georgia to Alec and Adele (Spradley) Burney. He served proudly the United States Marines Corps with a Corporal rank.

He moved to Haines City in 1956 from Colquitt, Georgia then in 2007, James relocated to Dundee, FL. He was mechanic and shop foreman for B.C. Cook & Sons for many years. James was owner-operator of Burney & sons Harvesting & Trucking.

He was also a cattle rancher and vegetable- watermelon farmer. His family remembers him as a hardworking man. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

An avid outdoors man, who enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his family. He loved traveling and enjoyed Wii bowling with his kids and grandkids. He will be truly missed by those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son Daryl Burney. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, June; sons, James R. Burney Jr. and wife, Rena of Kissimmee, FL and Lex Burney and wife, Nancy of Davenport, FL; daughters, Elaine Bozeman of Dundee, FL and JoAnne Clanton and husband, Dwight of Dundee, FL; brother, Troy Cone and wife, Lee of Lake City, FL; nine grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. A Visitation will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. all at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, Florida with Pastor Lane Stockton, officiating.
