James Ralph Philpott October 30, 1940 ~ September 1, 2018 Jim Philpott, 77, passed away at Barrington Place Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Clinton with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Ogden, Utah, a son of Ralph Walter Philpott and Mertrice Ballingham Philpott. Jim graduated from Ogden High School and Weber State College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business Management.

He also served with the Utah Army National Guard. He spent the majority of his professional career working for Defense Logistics Agency at Defense Depot Ogden, retiring at the age of 56. Jim married Kay Rylands on September 21, 1973, and together they raised two beautiful, caring daughters: Brittney (Shawn) Gilbert and Megan (Josh) Sparrow; and were blessed with four amazing grandchildren: Bailey, Hadley, Ryland, and Chloe.

He also leaves behind a son, Mike O’Neal. Jim loved to golf, fish, and was also a long-time season ticket holder for the Ogden Raptors Baseball. However, his best times were spent with family celebrating life and each and every accomplishment of his children and grandchildren.

Jim was very passionate about giving back to his community and serving others. He was active in Kiwanis Club of Roy, SHARE, Inc., and Habitat for Humanity to name a few. Proceeding Jim in death was his only sibling, his younger brother, Frank Philpott.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Barrington Place for the love, respect, and kindness they bestowed on both Jim and his family. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
