Hospice Care Center, North, Steubenville, OH. He was born November 24, 1933 in East Liverpool, OH. Jim was a member of the Hill Top Presbyterian Church of Toronto, OH; the Toronto American Legion Post #86; was an avid hunter and fisherman having been a past member of the Toronto Rod and Gun Club and the Mingo Jct.

Sportsman’s Club and was a 1951 graduate of Toronto High School. He was retired as a metallographer from the Titanium Metals Cooperation TIMET of Toronto where he had served as president of the United Steel Workers Union and served his country on the USS Gwin during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy. Jim was well known in the area as a taxidermist having taught himself taxidermy in his youth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl M. and Jessie Jane (Hawkins) McClain; brother, Wayne S. McClain in 1995 and a niece, Sandy McClain Johnson. Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years, Emma Blanche (Jeans) McClain whom he married December 2, 1951; sons, Mark R. (Janice) McClain of Toronto, OH and Jeffrey J. (Ann) McClain of Canton, OH; grandchildren, Katherine M. McClain of Morgantown, WV and James D. McClain of Canton, OH; cousin, Wanda Martin of Garden Grove, CA and his best friends, Andy Renforth and David Sabol. Visitation hours for Jim will be held 2-4 & 6-8 Sunday, July 8th at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto, OH A celebration service of Jim’s life will be held 11 A.M. Monday, July 9th at the funeral home with the Reverend C. Robert Meyer and the Reverend James Moran officiating.

Entombment will follow at the Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV. There will be full military honors presented by the Toronto American Legion Honor Guard at the funeral home Monday after the celebration service. Memorial donations in memory of Jim may be made to the Hill Top Presbyterian Church, 110 County Rd.
