Obituary for James William Hepler, Sr. James William Hepler, Sr., 92, of Wapakoneta, died 9:00 p.m., Thurs. Oct. 18, 2018, at his home.

He was born June 22, 1926, in New Bethlehem, PA, the son of Clair & Della (Shafer) Hepler, who preceded him in death. On April 24, 1977, he married M. Julia McKenzie, and she survives. Other survivors include, 2 sons, James W. (Debbie) Hepler, Jr., NY, Douglas K. Hepler, Westfield, IN, a granddaughter, Lauren Hepler, siblings, J. Gerald (Lucy) Hepler, Anchorage, AK, & Joyce H. (Perry) Haupt, Bellwood, PA.

He was preceded in death by a son, R. Neil Hepler, and a brother, John E. Hepler. Bill served as head of the psychology department at Butler University, Indianapolis, IN, and retired from there after 35 years of service. He received his Master’s degree from Ohio University and his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University.

In Bill’s younger years, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and woodworking. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force. In accordance with Bill’s wishes, there will be no public services.
