Jan L. Klie, age 67, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away at 12:20 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019, at her residence. She was born October 23, 1951, in Belleville, Illinois, the daughter of the late Herbert Henry & Mildred Agnes (Schuenis) Lurtz. Jan worked for Edwardsville School District as a teacher’s aide and a substitute teacher for many years.

She is survived by her husband Richard A. Klie, whom she married March 4, 2006, in Naples, Florida. Jan is also survived by two daughters, Katherine “Katie” Brown & husband Caleb of Columbia, Missouri, Jennifer “Jen” Perkins of Collinsville; four grandchildren, Xavier, Vivian, Lorelie, & Teague; two brothers, Terry Lurtz & wife Beth of Pinehurst, South Carolina, Tom Lurtz & wife Linda of Arcata, California; and a sister Judy Schulte & husband Jim of Kirkwood, Missouri. She was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Glen Carbon.

A memorial visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21, 2019, at St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church. A memorial mass will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Cecelia’s with Father Patrick D. Gibbons officiating. As per her request Jan’s body was donated to the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
