Jane Baker Waterford – Jane H. Baker, 96, formerly of Waterford, died Saturday, November 17, 2018, at the Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Davenport, Florida. She was born in New London, Connecticut on January 1, 1922, the daughter of Nathan and Sadie Traystman. She married Harry V. Baker Sr. in Waterford October 17.

1942. He predeceased her. Mrs. Baker was retired from the Connecticut Department of Corrections where she was a Correctional Officer.

She is survived by her son Harry V. Baker Jr. of Port St. Lucie, Florida, “Judy”, Granddaughter Trica Leary, Great Granddaughter Ashley Baker Jones, “Donnie”, Great Grandson Chad Baker, two great great granddaughters, and two great great grandsons. She was predeceased by her Granddaughter Jill Baker last year. The photo above was taken one year ago at her granddaughter Ashley’s home where she lived and was loved.

She was the last of the original Traytsman family. Everyone knew her as Bubbie because she was everyone’s grandmother. Jane was the real McCoy.

She probably knitted for the whole town of Waterford, Beautiful work. She volunteered at L&M and knitted for the pediatric unit. She also helped out at her nephew Hugie’s restaurant and had input into the famous Love Salad.

She was strong, yet gentle to all. At Thanksgiving time we were blessed to have had her. She will be deeply missed.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 AM Friday at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave. , New London, followed by interment in Ohave Sholem Cemetery. Condolences may be shared on www.
